Honeycomb Oyster

Honeycomb Oyster

Story behind the shot

Guadalcanal Island in the Solomon Islands is often best known as the site of major naval battles during World War II, but more interesting to me are the fascinating marine life that have taken over the wrecked warships. On the wreck of the Japanese Kinugawa Maru, I found this beautiful Honeycomb Oyster (Hyotissa hyotis) attached to a huge steel girder.
