Trumpetfish in Transparency

Trumpetfish in Transparency

Story behind the shot

The insides of this juvenile trumpetfish (Aulostomus chinensis) are clearly visible under a high-intensity dive light. This photo was taken during a night dive off the shore of Mborokua (Mary Island) in the Solomons. During the dive, my underwater flash batteries ran out of juice, so I switched the camera to automatic exposure mode and my dive buddy provided “available” light via his canister light. Big thanks go out to Curt for providing the necessary illumination and lending his hand for the background.
