Story behind the shot
On the way back from a dive I was swimming back to the boat through some murky green water and spotted this Moon Jellyfish (Aurelia aurita). The water was cloudy, so I had to get right next to the jellyfish to try and capture the details of its texture. The original photo was in color, but converting it to black and white gave me the contrast I wanted to emphasize the details. Photographed near the west end of Catalina Island in California.
